MGF: Replacement of Windscreen Washer Motor

The motor for my windscreen washers has decided to packup, as totally dead. Has anyone replaced the motor and is it an easy enough DIY fix? Any advices or links would be appreciated - thanks

Had an F years ago and the same thing happened. New pump was £££, so I chanced taking the old one out, popping the motor casing apart and simply cleaning up the brushes.

The motor for the windscreen washer packed up when driving the car back from Italy to the UK, where it was booked in for an MOT. It failed on this. The price (IIRC) was about £90, including fitting. I still am not convinced it was the motor that died, though. When I checked the washer operation after getting it through the MOT, it still didn't work! They took it back into the workshop to sort it out - with hindsight, I should have asked what the problem was.....
