MGTF Tyre Query
Discussion
Hi All,
Can anybody help with a tyre query?
We have been running Goodyear Eagle F1 R16 82W's which I believe was Standard factory rear fitment, but we have just had the rears replaced with Goodyear Excellence ZR16 86W's which we were advised were a suitable replacement.
However we have found the handling has changed. My (limited) understanding of tyres is that the numbers on the new tyres show a higher specification of tyre, however we are not confident the car feels right with these on at speed. Feels like the car is tramlining and wallowing when turning in which isn't inspiring confidence.
Any suggestions?

You'll also find a new tyre is often nervous feeling compared to a bald tyre - this is thanks to tread block movement and should die down once the tyre has worn in a little.
This will be doubly noticeable as you've gone from a ultra high performance sports tyre to a touring tyre, as pointed out above.
