is it normal in an mgb gt for the battery compartment to have no floor in it and be open to the elements?

That's how mine is.

There should be a lid over the top of the cages to prevent acid vapour soaking back into the cabin from under the seat though, just like mine didn't have. wink

Worried me too when I was driving my one home from buying it, lifted the rear cusion up to see why I could hear the diff' making such a racket and saw the road passing by underneath on the side where there was now no battery! I have single 12V.

I have since sourced the proper battery cover.

That's just how they are. smile
