My MGB GT 1966 Heritage shell failed its MOT: the seat back cannot be fixed in one position. My understanding is that the seats never have been fixed they pivot about a bolt on the seat frame. - Any comments!

Well I've never had that problem in 11 years of sending my 68 BGT for an MOT. Surely a second opinion required from a more pragmatic testing station.

Sounds right

Take in your owners Handbook and show MOT tester - if you haven't got the owners Handbook you can get one from;

£8, the Handbook is vital for owner/drivers

Surely the rear seat back is in a fixed position when the turn-keys are in the locked position?
Also never had a problem in 10 years or so,

Mine just passed like this.

My slightly rotted castle section and hole in the passenger footwell also passed.

These are 2 jobs on my "to do" list.

Mine passed last week with the seat back folded down to hide the horrible brused nylon seat cover!

Take it somewhere where they know what they're looking at. wink
