Me and my dad were thinking about our next project as the modified MGB GT is almost finished. Were thinking about the useual capri, escort, midget stuff like that but we like to do something that is unusual then it came to us a metro 6R4 replica we can get the full kit for just under a grand a metro can be bought prety cheaply but to keep with the mid engine we are going to use the engine and suspension out of the mgf or TF we were told that the rear sub frame on the F, TF are similar fit to the one on the metro and then use the interior of the F, TF to be used in the metro does anybody know anybody who had done this sort of thing or any problems in doing so i havent seen anything on the internet who have done this but its only an idea at the moment

The rear subframe on the MGF is somewhat similar to the metro FRONT subframe.

I have to say that it's not a project I would consider worthwhile - you can fit the 1.8K straight into the front of the Metro and make a quick little car that it still practical. Putting the MGF running gear into the back of the metro will be a lot of work to make a car that will likely be slower and less well balanced than the simple engine swap.

If you are going to make a 6R4 replica, then a V6 should be on the list of requirements really. Get a ZS180 lump in the back and things will be much more interesting (as long as you only want to go in straight lines...)

Wasn't the 6r4 bodyshell stretched slightly? I've seen a metro with a 6r4 body kit and it looked pretty awful whereas a tarmac spec 6r4 looks damn good.
