Cold air intake...reducing risk of hydrolock etc
Discussion
Considering fitting a cold air intake to my ZT (and sucking in air from the foglight area) however i'm worried about the risks of sucking up water / general road crap.
A - is there anything I can get to reduce this
and
B - Obviously going through a deep puddle is an issue... but what about rain etc?

Do it on the drivers side light as the camber of the road means that puddles will most likely be on the passenger side. Normal rain will not have an effect at all really, its just when your are literally sucking the water up as if its a straw that you are in trouble.
You will just need to remember to disconect the pipe if you ever need to go through a deep puddle! Apart from that, building a drain at the bottom of the pipe or making sure all of it runs in an upwards curve (to prevent water sitting in the pipe) is always a good idea.
I have never really seen it as risky really as long as you keep it away from any puddles where it will get submerged. All of the stories I have heard where someone has got Hydrolock has always turned out to be because they tried to just drive though a massive puddle that turned their pipe into a straw.

Interested to see examples of the drain / upward curve on other cars.
Can't route to the drivers side as it's too crouded already so would have to be the passenger side
Are there any filters etc I can put over the pipe? If I lose some flow thats fine as the OEM stuff is useless for getting air.
