Hay every yesterday as i was driving to asda i could here a ticking noise from my mgf at first i just thot it was a sticky tapit .after being in asda and starting the car again it was all fine . its only about 1mile to asda from where i live and as i pulled in to my drive my car lost alot of power and was strugiling to keep the revs . after doing this i parked it up for the night and went to go to work after driving 3 miles i noticed the hot blowers were still cold and the water gauge was over half so i stiped and seen i had no water so i ran and got 6 leters i put anoth in to fill the bottle and stated going again it was fine for 12 miles and just as i got to work my car was stalling as i went into nutral and there was no water in the bottle is this my head gasket and if it is what can i do to make it not happen again cose it goin to cost alot i think

Well that was incredibly hard to read. Have some punctuation....,,,,,;;;;;;!!!!!

It sounds like HGF and by driving it you are potentially causing more damage. Get it recovered to a trusted garage to investigate.

sorry but im doing it on my phone. ive got it booked in for monday

is there eney upgrades i could use to not let this happen again

They can fit a MLS gasket and uprated oil rail, TBH they should do this anyway without you asking them too. Its more expensive than the normal gasket kit but it should prevent any future problems. Available from Landrover if they cant get it from their normal supplier.

Have you noticed any leaks from the cooling system?

Might be worth replacing the coolant bottle and cap with the low level alarm type, and fitting ss underfloor coolant pipes.

i will ask them about the gasket .do you know how much the pipes and bottle would be . and where i coul get them from.

I got the pipes from Brown and gammons, £55 as a trade price and with carriage +VAT came to £75. They should be able to supply the low coolant alarm too (about £75 iirc. I didnt bother getting this but i check coolant at least one a week) Might be worth trying Mike Satur and the MGF centre for a quote.
