I recently had a similar issue - got a friendly garage who plugged it in to a box of tricks and diagnosed a misfire with low fuel. They reset it and never been a problem since.
Definately worth taking to a garage to check it out. Only took 10mins.

How much did it set you back? Mines on fuel about 4 months old so you might be right.

They did me a favour but it was a 10 minute job with a hand held computer - shouldn't cost you a lot.

The standard wisdom is that the warning light needs to be re-set "externally", as suggested above. My suspicion is that if the condition causing the light to illuminate disappears for long enough, the light will extinguish itself.

My TF160 needs to have an oxygen sensor replaced, hence engine light on. I took the car to a workshop who ran the diagnostics and re-set the light, but pretty soon after, the engine light came back on. After that, I took part in a track day. During the course of the track day, the light extinguished itself. My theory is that driving the car much harder than usual for an extended period burnt off some of the crud on the O2 sensor, allowing it to work for a short while.

The CEL will re set itself after a certain number of good start cycles so thats probably why yours reset itself. My ZR160 did the same thing, I have a code scanner so knew it was the pre cat O2 sensor and I was able to reset it untill I replaced the sensor. Simple code scanners can be picked up for about £20 and well worth having in my oppinion.
