MGF - Creaky Steering Rack

This is another issue my car has developed since the weather turned to total ste.... the steering rack sounds very creaky and quite loud too, like its in need of a good greasing.

Any thoughts here / experiences of similar??? Thanks Again!

Creaky or Clonky (great use of the English language)?

Clonky - then it could be the track rods ends are cream crackered and neeed to replacing. You can easily check for play in these.

Creaky - could be the strengthening bar that sits behind the dash. I cant remember exactly what it is but there are some issues reported with this on other sites. Big job as I think it needs welding to sort it. OR It could be the universal joints on the bottom of the steering rack needs a bit of TLC and grease / penetrating oil.

Lets face it mine creaks and clonks all over the place but then its completely stripped out racer.

Sorted out with some Lube - she's well greased now :whoohoo:
