Buying advise on Z TT
Discussion
Great cars.
I have a 190 ZTT. done 120k miles now.
The big service is the 90k belt change, (around 600 quid from a specialist who knows what he is doing) I'd say a better price for this car would be nearer £3k - 3.5k, and then only if its in spanking condition with a full MGR service history.
Make sure the tyres are decent spec too. Cheap tyres = owners who may not have maintained the car in the proper fashion IMHO.
Very few real problems with these cars. Plenum drains, vis motors and the odd electrical gremlin is about it. All easy to rectify cheaply (if indeed they go wrong at all)
Enjoy

Hi
When you get to it turn on the engne and air con and make sure the rad fan is running. If not either it is buggered (old version) or if it is a newer one it needs a new slow speed resistor. First is either £400 using Xpart OEM part or £170 using a Kenlowe replacement + fitting took me 6 hours to fit the Kenlowe but could be less for a pro!).
Ask if the Fuel filter clip has been added. I have fitted the clips to both my ZT's one which had the filter split and the car refused to start the other I did as a precaution. 20 minute job and a 5er for the clip.
Check under the carpets for leaks at the front if has a sunroof and at the back if it is an estate.
Check the parking sensors work - they have dies on my 65k ZTT!
All I can think of.
Good luck!

Parking sensors is a 30 minute fix. Parts are 20 quid off e bay. Very very easy

Could you post up more details on that? Mine periodically have a fit. Sometimes they'll work perfectly, but other times they'll go full on as though I'm right up against something even when I'm not.Andy

These pages will show you the bits. I bought a complete set of 4 for £20 + post a couple of years ago. Simple enough task. Pick a day when the sensors are not working, so this way you can isolate the correct one. Remove rear bumber ( about 10 screws/clips) and the parking sensors unclip from the rear. Start with the one that is most corroded on the ovoid face (the oval bit thats the inner of the sensor ) as this is probably the dicky one.
The round body bit comes out leaving the bezel in the bumper. Swap it for a good one, and then check to see if the sensors are working again. If necessary, repeat with the others till system succesfully up and running.
Whilst the bumper is off, unplug each sensor and clean up each connector.
To paint the sensor, use the appropriate aerosol touch up paint. Remove the sensor from the bumper
and anchor it on something. a couple of passes over the face with the aerosol should be enough. Don't go mad.. you don't want to kill the sensor with paint.
Replace and refit.. Voila!
