Help, nothing happens when i turn the key

Hi,

long time listener, first time caller.
"R" reg MGF, seems to have plenty of battery power, but when i turn the key the dash lights come on, but happens happens enginewise. No noises at all, just the silence.
Any ideas?

Do you hear a "clicking" when you turn the key?

looking now, thanks for that. I'm sure its nothing terminal, just annoying at 10pm on a Friday night!!!!

start with the basics mate!

battery and starter motor, check for 2 lives on the rear of the starter 1 should be permanent (thick chunky wire) 1 should be on when you turn the ignition key to the start position (small wire) and then of course fuses would be a good bet too.
