My sister has just acquired a 1997 MGF and she says it has a water leak.

I have asked her to check the oil filler cap and coolant expansion bottle for sludge thinking it could be HGF but she said it may be dripping out underneath.

Are there any favourites candidates here for any parts of the system to be prone to leaks?

Thanks,
K

The joints where the rubber pipe meets the metal pipes which run under the car to the radiator and back? Just held by jubilee clips I think...can she see where the drips are coming from?

Try also the two front to rear steel coolant pipes that run under the centre of the car, around the welded joints on their mounting brackets, and around the base of the radiator core as well. Two other favourite places for leaks.

He hasn't said but I know he has been driving it and also knows a good mechanic who I think he was asking to take a look at it.

I dod pass on all of the comments on this thread, so my thanks to all for the help.
