Quick one on MGB hardtops, how good is the rear seat for small people and how safe are the seatbelts?

Presume you mean MGB GT - sorry to disappoint but the rear seat is minimal, no leg room unless the driver and passenger are v. short, and v. little head room.

More importantly, there are no seat belts or mounts to fit them for the rear.

I thought the same till I bought my girlfriend one about a month ago.........Sure enough rear seat belt mounts!!

Only for lap belts (and the mounts are factory).

It's up to you if you want to use the backseats I grew up in the back of MGs and it did me no harm, these days though it seems unless you carry kids in a people carrier wrapped up in bubble wrap your worse than Hitler.

If you do go for multiple occupancy of a BGT your challenge is to beat 7 people in one (adults) hehe

Well we all live and learn! i wonder if the mounts appeared at aparticualr point in time, as /i don't recall anything like that when I had my GT many moons ago.

Well it's one of the late RB cars so quite possibly, it also has a gem of an engine fitted and is the tightest (bar a 20k original a friend owns) MGB I have ever driven.

However back on topic I would never fit seat belts to it or any other B back seat as frankly with the seat position and angles etc. They would be useless and more of a hindrance than a help in the event of an accident.

Hi

I'm considering buying an MGB GT and have two small children. When they are in the car I'd like them to have seat belts so found this forum.
I was wondering why you said if the belts were fitted they would be too awkward to use. Also where are the belt mounts?

Regards

Jim
