I've been having a look around for better brakes to go on the front of my car. Been looking at EBC Vented / Grooved Discs and Padsets. I'm not too bothered about the rear as the standard brakes there are new as was done on recent service..but I think something better on the front is a good idea.

Any advice from experience of what maybe good here, plus anywhere recommended to buy the parts online thats good prices. Thnx again!!

Hi PJ,
There are a couple of other threads covering this subject below for an MGB - what car is this for?

Doh.. I thought I had put that into my post, teach me for being in a rush.

I have got a Year 2000, MG-F standard 1.8i model and would like to know what best to put on the front to improve stopping power and stability under hard breaking. The standard vented discs are ok, but I always prefer extra in that department. No point increasing BHP til you've sorted your braking and your suspension / handling, then look for more power as a final stage.

Thanks

If you are considering increasing your bhp try and get the red AP calipers and discs on e bay, I got a set for £70 one time, do not fit the EBC pads as they are not good and a few of the guys have had them break up on trackdays, I do use their vented grooved and dimpled discs though as I was advised they are good and have used them on a few trackdays, no probs,if you do get AP calipers you will need the 16" wheels to suit, I have 17". I also use mintex track pads but the standard ones are fine.
if you dont want to go for the AP ask Mike Satur he has other options

Thanks for tips there mate. I won't be putting bigger wheels on, as just laid out a few quid on x4 new Toyo Proxes. I will probably then go for the EBC Grooved Discs with Mintex Pads for some extra stoppage. I will probably just look to add an induction kit at somepoint.

The EBC grooved discs will be fine, but I would see if you could get Ferodo 2500s.
