MG ZT-T Sat Nav upgrade software
Discussion
Hi, I'm just about to buy a 54 plate ZT-T which comes with a TV/SAT NAV unit.
3 questions please. Can the sat nav software be updated? If so, how?
Is the TV quality any good? I guess it will turn itself off when driving, but is there a workaround to get it to stay on permanantly?
Finally is there any inputs to attach an external dvd player?
Thanks for any help!

With the satnav, do you mean the software, or do you mean the maps? The former can only be upgraded by fitting a Mk3 BMW satnav computer (around £120 on Ebay) as the ones they sold to MGR had frozen firmware. The maps are just a case of getting a more recent CD.
As for the TV, it's pretty pointless as it's an analogue tuner, and analogue broadcasts have already been turned off in some parts of the country, and the other parts won't be far behind. You could get a freeview tuner for it, but they're not cheap.
As for having it always on, why would you want to do that? The screen is too small for kids to see from the back, and it would just be a distraction while you're driving.
Finally, no, there isn't a connection for an external DVD player.
If you were planning to spend money upgrading it, you'd probably be far better off fitting a nice double din unit with built in hard drive, better sat nav, a bigger screen and all that nice stuff.

There is an AV input on it but you need to get the right adapter/loom to fit the BMW parts, there is even an input for a reversing camera but it is NTSC and again you need the right adapter for the BMW.If you were planning to spend money upgrading it, you'd probably be far better off fitting a nice double din unit with built in hard drive, better sat nav, a bigger screen and all that nice stuff.
Hang, there is even a driver unit in the TV module for rear LCD screens but have never seen any fitted. The furthest I took mine was the telephone integration for my Nokia 6310i and it worked well, but it is not compatabile with newer phones.
As you said tho, best to get the nice after market double din unit

It's on the circuit diagrams on the rave disk, which I don't have to hand just now as the car is in Dreadnought just now and the disk is in the glove box and I'm in Belgium
It was discussed a few years ago on the XPower forums with diagram and pin-outs shown, will have a search and see if I can find it.

After a bit of digging....
