Anyone know where I can get a keyfob reprogrammed near Grange-over-Sands (Kendal, Barrow, etc)? Tried the Mini Centre in Barrow but they sound expensive. I know the fobs alone on ebay are £27, so just someone capable of programming them would do.

Also anywhere to get a new hood fitted, or are they easy enough for a DIY job (if so where can I buy one, in red).

Easy DIY job provided that you source a hood form ebay or the like that is already fitted with a frame - instructions here: http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/group2/DIY/exterior/... If you cannot, then google "MGF hood replacement" and find your nearest supplier/fitter

Difficult to say more about the key fob programming without knowing what type of fob and whether you know, or know where on the car to find, the code - if you do/can find it, then it can be done by post. Plenty of details on both key fobs and regional contacts here: http://forums.mg-rover.org/forumdisplay.php?f=12 and here: http://www.mgfregister.org/forum/index.php.

Thanks Mark.

Closest hood fitting place I have found yet is Advanced Car Trim in Blackpool. I know the frames are a simple fit, but wife wants a red hood, so hence needing fitting. I have seen a Mulberry one on ebay at the moment, just wondering if this can be dyed to the correct colour.

As for the key fobs, I see them on ebay for £27 and read about mobile fitters reprogramming them for £20, so it miffs me that locally I'll end up paying £110+vat. May have to pay that though as the old fob is now playing up.

Mulberry is the closest you will get to red in terms of original, and dyeing is is likely to end up being uneven and patchy, particularly once it has weathered after a few months, so if you want a brighter red, you will need to go through an aftermarket supplier/fitter who produces a wider colour range.

On the fob, you really shouldn't be paying anything like that amount. The earlier links should give you plenty of leads of where to go and what it is all about. Although having the EKA (Emergency Key Acces) code is a bonus, it is noit essential, as the car is coded to the fobs rather than the other way round, hence don't touch ebay, as the only way that they get re-programmed is with the car, fobs and computer in the same place at the sane time.
