Yep i have just done the headgasket on the 1.8 mgf k series i changed the belt tensioner and water pump the thing would not start afer so i checked everything.Had a poor spark so replaced leads cap arm turned out it was the coil pack.Any way job done drives like a dream venting only took 2 minutes with rear of car jacke up about 12".So i send it of for paintwork it comes back and guess what water under the car.Turns out the rad has less fins then flipper so i replace it with a aluminium one and it is all going like a dream again my sister in law has the car and she loves it she is so excited.Parks the car outside her flat in Reading and somone kicks the offside indicator lens off, thats life it must look good for somone to bother.
After one of my friends seeing me doing up the mgf he decides to get one so i have a vvt to play with now head gasket okay but has a few issues i dont know if anyone has seen this before but the belt looks good but it moves adjacent to the rotation of tha cam wheel back and forth as if a pulley wheel is kicked over across ant a slight angle there are no signs of wear across the sides of the belt. The car has only done 150 miles a year for the last 3 years so om wondering if the belt may have gone out of shape anyway anyone with any ideas let me know. Also it has a random engine sound random in frequency and random in volume and pitch sounds like a hydralic tappet so im going to give it a flush and treat it to some magnatec again any ideas let me know thanks.
