I'm thinking of getting either a replacement panel filter or a cone filter or my TF. does anyone know the neck size where the filter fits on a 135 model? thanks in advance.

Get a replacement standard filter, on its own it wouldn't make any difference. A cone type filter will increase the amount of air going into the engine but without ballanceint the fuel rate to match the car will just lean off and overheat.

You can’t increase the amount of air going into the engine simply by replacing the filter. The engine will suck in however much it needs. To get more air in, you have to force it in, with either a turbo or supercharger.

The purpose of an open cone filter is to remove any restriction in the standard filter arrangement and to reduce the temperature of the air entering the engine, as the cooler the air the more efficiently it burns, resulting in more power.

Because it’s so difficult to improve on the standard setup with the TF, I would opt for a replacement panel filter rather then an induction kit. Panel filters for the MGF/TF come in 2 sizes.
If it’s a TF135 or 160 then it will need the larger of the 2 which is approx 140mmx290mm. I’m not 100% sure if the TF115 uses the small or large airbox, so if you have a 115, check before buying.
FYI Pipercross & ITG both make panels filters to fit the TF. If you get stuck finding a supplier, the Pipercross is available from www.mikesatur.co.uk

Thanks for the replys, after my hastle with K&N i've decided to get a ITG replacement panel. After thinking it through i though a cone filter in such a confined space would do more harm than good.
