mgf down on power?
Discussion
My mg seems to be very low on power. When i put my foot down it often has a flat spot just as i press the pedal, & the induction noise seems very loud with little power.
My first thoughts were head gasket but there in no oil/water mix & there appears to be no preasure building up in the expansion bottle & no coolant loss?
It is also ticking over around 1200 rpm but occasionaly rests at normal tickover. Very strange.
Maybe i have an air leak? Does anybody know where i should start looking! Im new to the K series & know very little about them!
Thanks!!!

Well, i pulled the plugs out & compression tested it, to make sure the head gasket isnt on its way & all is fine.
When i accelerate steadily the engine picks up, but if i put my foot hard down it just makes a loud induction roar & does not accelerate?
Can anyone shed any light on it? i have no idea where to start!

Funny you should mention your idle problems - currently trying to sort them on my race F.
Right - It might be the temp sensor (brown) on the right hand side of the engine as you look down on it with the engine cover removed.
It might also be the manifold cracking and therefore leaking around the flange as it attaches to the down pipe. (Mine broke completely at the weekend in qualifying)
The power issue might be down to the catalyst breaking up in the exhaust - had that one happen as well, last year.
Thats about as many suggestion, other than the one you have already done, I can come up with.
