About 7:30 tonight I was driving on a Norfolk lane and found thick mud covering the road on a bend.

I spun immediately and just clipped the hedge damaging the front bumper. Luckily I was traveling fairly slowly and the cross-member behind the bumper is completely untouched.

Although I was braking on the way into the corner it certainly wasn't hard and the mud was easily as bad as the snow we've been having and barely visible using headlights. It looks like it had come from a field entrance or where the tractors have been tearing up the verges (both sides at once) with their extra-wide low pressure tyres. I'll take some pictures in the morning to prove how bad the road is and complain to the council. The farmers round here really don't care about the amount of mud they leave. I'm used to seeing a bit of mud about but this was ridiculous, even walking about was treacherous and far worse than most farmyards.

Does anybody know if there's anywhere I can get a good secondhand front bumper for my 2004 MG TF? If so please message me. Alternatively if anybody has recommendations for bumper repairers please say.

Thanks

Try DK Salvage in peterborough, cambs. They have ebay shop and do alot of MGF/TF parts. Last time i was in their yard they must have had over a dozen F/TF sat there in bits.

I'll call them in the morning thanks.

I called the X-Parts dealer and they said bumpers are on back order at 210+VAT so I guess with fitting and paint I'd be looking at around £500 which isn't too bad. Question is how long back-order means so a repair or secondhand may be better.

They are on backorder from MGRover with no date available at the moment. They are also like hens teeth to source as virtually all dealer stock has dried up now.
Your best bet is secondhand. I do have a new one but it will be considerably more than usual retail as I know it is probably the only new one floating about in the country.

Thanks but by the sound of things they should be in by the end of the month as they're having a new batch made

Due end of month, but will probably not be available for up to 10 days after that as they will be at the packers. Unless they rush them through.

Change of plan. VOR orders were released to dealers today.

I believe it stands for Vehicle Off Road orders, in other words... Urgent.

MG had a new batch made up so I got a brand new bumper from the dealer. Not cheap though, the facelift bumper is cheaper and nicer too look at too. Having said that the most expensive bit is getting it painted, at least for a proper job anyhow.

Mine was about £240 for the bumper alone, new shape was about £20 cheaper. I couldn't one get new or secondhand for a while. Eventually a new batch was made up. The car was off the road a couple of months waiting for parts.

There is a place doing fibreglass copies but it wasn't up to scratch, though in fairness they didn't quibble when I sent it back.
