I need to fit a new hood to my 1974 MGB. The chap who did this previously has retired. I will probably buy direct from MGOC. Do any of you know someone who could fit the hood within a reasonable distance from Ramsbottom, Lancashire? Many thanks Ian

I'd wait until the warmer weather

You'll also need to consider if you current hood fittings are in exactly as factory spec or whether to have the fittings added to your hood during fitting of the hood (MGOC hoods can come prefitted with fasteners)

You'll also want to think about whether you need to replace the header rail and fittings (rubber seal, clamps etc.) all now available as new but better to keep originals if they are in good condition

Sorry to make it seem perhaps more complicated than it will be for you but I had a hood custom fitted to my previous Spridget and had to hunt round (at that time) for a good s/h header rail as mine turned out to be very rusty and altho' the fitting was excellent it was all wated when a month later my hood frame broke and on fitting a new hood frame the hood was never as good - so even check your hood frame!

PS - unless yours is a car that isn't used much avoid Double Duck or Mohair, vinyl is much better for cars that are actually used

Any idea what sort of glue to use to stick the back bar to the hood flap?

Try Don Trimming, in Birmingham. They made a great hood for my MGB - fits like a glove.
