I'm a bit stumped. I'm currently trying to get a midget back on the road and have become confused over the exhaust. I bought a new full system from moss and when fitted with the correct brackets the tail pipe presses against the rear valance. Its as though the rh mount is too short and is holding the exhaust in the wrong place. Does anyone know what's wrong?

Secondly I read somewhere that an old style single silencer system negating the use of the crossbox can be employed. Has anyone done this, how is it achieved. It's supposed to result in a more "vintage" exhaust note (and will bypass the problem I'm having).

I make up brackets myself to get the exhaust fixed to the car; I'm not worried about it being exactly as factory intended.

I changed the cross-box on my girlfriend's car to the straight one as it was cheaper. This just fits straight on the pipe. There are the original mounting points too I think, so you can then use 1275 mounts to hold it on; I made my own up though.

Edit, point to note is that I seem to remember the exhaust tip tilted toward the number plate, so I moved that slightly over... not a problem now as we're putting my old chrome bumpers on as she prefers them.

Aye single box just bolts straight on. Much better.

To solve your problem just put a longer strap on where it is too high.

Thanks both. I came to the conclusion that a way of lengthening the mount is the way forward too. Will give it a go anyway. Else I'll get an old style back box, will it push fit onto the 1500 centre pipe?
