MG ZR Interior
Discussion
Hi,
Was reccommended these forums by a friend in work.
I'm currently looking for a second hand MG ZR, as it's a budget ''fun'' car that i adore the look of.
This is my first ''proper'' car after having driven a 1994 corsa for 3 years. Now the Mrs will also be using the new MG when i find one, and stereotypically of a woman, she's fixated with the interior.
I've seen that in some models of the ZR the seats have leather colouring to match the exterior, i.e blue or yellow leather.
My question is, what models have said colouring on seats, as i can't get the VVC 160Bhp version i really want due to the cost of insurance, as i'm only 20.
I'm gonna have to find one with this kind of interior to keep the ''boss'' off my back, so any help is much appreciated.
Sincerely,
Mark

20 and there's a mrs drmz!
OK here's a better plan:
1. Ditch the wife - you haven't even begun your life yet ffs.
2. With the cash saved get a TVR, Lotus or any other REAL Sports car
3. Arrange to meet up with now ex-wife fortnightly for conjugals with the promise that you'll get over your irrational behaviour in a year or two.
HTH
Not wanting to put you off, but I ran a ZR160 fo two years, and it was the most unreliable, badly put together POS I have ever owned.
Fantastic fun while it was working, but it was being fixed on average once every two months while I had it.
I was told the HG would be fine if I warmed it up carefully, didn't thrash it, and kept a careful eye on the coolant once a week. This turned out not to be true..........

I have had my 160 for about 8-9 weeks now. The thing has 113,000 on it, (only paid £1700) so its hardly run in! Fantastic fun while it was working, but it was being fixed on average once every two months while I had it.

had no issues with it what so ever! (touch wood) And its better built than the french stuff I have owned. I like the look and it drives very well indeed, just hope reliabilty isnt an issue.
The engines in these are used in so many other vehicles parts aren't a problem and are very cheap (so I am told)
I'm sure there are good one's.
As you say the K series is used in many other cars and is fundamentally a cracker of an engine apart from the HG issues.
I loved the car when it was working.
To be honest I was expecting HGF at some point
Clutch cable, Lambda sensor, radiator fan switch, engine temperature sender, exhaust, drivers seat cover, cam belt tensioner, alternator, rocker cover gasket, drivers door locking mechanism, expansion tank cap, all the dashboard lights, track rod ends.
All these failed rather less expectedly!
