Hi

Looking at buying a MG ZT 190 but found some rather large dents under the drivers door.

From the pics below has anyone got a rough estimate as to how much it would cost (how much I should try to knock off the price) to repair.

Cheers

Steve

How do you want to do it?

Replace sill? £400 min.

Pull Sill out and skim over. £250?

Bodge loads of filler in and paint over. £50-150.

Its a horrible little ding is that. I'd want a lot of money knocked off tbh.

Thanks WildOliver

The Car is an 02 190+ with 61,000 miles on the clock and its priced at £3,650. How much do you think I should be aiming to get knocked off for that damage?

Thev rest of the car is in good condition, so for the right price I might still buy it.

Well question is really how it stacks up to comparative cars, is it already much cheaper, in which case the seller has priced accordingly, or is it expensive, if expensive I'd probably prefer to buy one without damage and save the hassle. Whats the rest of the car like? Is it anything special, I'll be honest it doesn't sound a particularly cheap car, but then again for some reason ZR and ZS are seeming to hold money very well which goes against all logic really.

If your really stuck on that car if it was me I'd probably do it myself and do it the cheap way, rough up the paint (it already looks pretty roughed up, build a basic shape with fibreglass bridging filler, then get it roughly smooth for a skim of filler then stonechip over and a quick blow over. It;s the kind of job that would cost me half a day of my time and about £15 in materials, and it would look ok, no-one could tell and it should last fine, in some ways it's probably better long term than replacing the sill/pulling it out n terms of rust prevention and disturbing welds.

But I'd want to be saving £500 over an equivalent car. I'd also be checking it isn't Cat d/c, it's unlikely but possible.

Dealer wouldn't budge and something didn't seem right about the car so I'll leave it.

Plenty more out there, cheaper too. smile

Thanks for your advice.
