I'm seriously considering swapping my Mk. 1 Mazda MX5 for a working, MOT'd useable MGBGT or Midget.

I've been offered a 1971 MGBGT for a straight swap which is in fair condition but has a long MOT, the owner is willing to drive the car over from Wales too, which is a good sign in my book!

It is BRG and has wire wheels.

I'm also looking at Midgets not been offered one but if I get cash for my car it is on my list.

This car would be bought and ran daily and slowly done up over time, anything that needed doing would be done, thereafter I'd start on things like retrims etc.

Other options I am looking at are E30 BMWs and Porsche 944s both of which I have owned before.

Advice please smile

If you had come to me a month or so ago I had a smashing BGT which I wanted to swap for an MX-5!!

Depending on age/mileage/colour/interior spec/engine and LSD/Non LSD I might still be tempted to do a swap on a nice midget I have, but and I must emphasise this point it would need to be a special MK1 to tempt me!

What kind of driving are you doing? The Midget isn't at its best on the motorways - 1275cc engine and a 4 speed box with no oil cooler (although you can modify them).

The B is a much better all round car - just that bit more comfortable, spacier, quicker, more relaxing due to the overdrive unit. The midget has much quicker steering and is a better town car, but that's about it.

Aw, how typical LOL!

MX5 is a 1990 on a H, Mariner Blue, Blue Cloth, 1.6i, Eunos Roadster, non LSD. It is in good condition but I am not going to say it is a special Mk. 1 by any stretch of the imagination!

If it's the bright blue then that was on my list of wanted colours, but I really need a 1.8 and LSD.

However if you sell privately and decide your interested in the Midget let me know, can be built to any spec for a reasonable price.

Yeah it's the bright blue smile

Could be interested, if I swap for this BGT I've been offered and I require work can you do it?

Not a problem at all, like I say just sold a GT which was bought a bit scruffy and tidied up and returned a nice profit, if you want an evaluation doing before you do a deal let me know, some GTs are more trouble than they are worth.
