On a MGA there is a selaing ring between the manifold and the down pipe, its part number is GEX7196, my local motor shop does not recognise htis part, anyone know of a modern part number equivalent?

Same as MGC but there is two of them.

Ta.

Bits like that just order from b hive mate, much much easier than messing with local shops. I need some gaskets soon and won't even bother trying the locals anymore, that said for oil filters and brakes they are untouchable.

I know what you mean, its a £2 part, plus the postage its gonna cost me a fiver, this whole 1800 and five speed job has cost me £2k now and about 100 quid is postage!

The local MG bloke said he have one in stock yesterday, I went on the way home, no-one there, went on the way home tonight, no fker there, took a bd hour to get home via his place, still no fecking seal in my hand GRRRR!!!

why the feck cant car parts retailers get their st together, I spent lunchtime returning a part to BMW they got wrong.

Drives me up the fecking wall, I only want a fking exhaist fk seal.

Nah, same as MGC, MGA has one, MGC has 2. MGB I think is smaller.

Grumble grumble....have calmed down a bit.

I've got a c in my garage but no spare exhaust gaskets, otherwise if it were the same as a b I would have sent you one in the post foc.

You mentioned you were doing an 1800 conversion? Why not use the MGB manifold and downpipe? It's far more efficient.

The MGB manifold and down pipe does not clear the mga chasssis, its a shame a B hive do a LCB for 95 quid...

That's something for another day...I quite like the idea of side exit like my Healey had!

I went to the local motor factor with an E type seal and said I wanted one a bit smaller than that! I came away with 5 different ones, he said he take the ones I dont want back.

One fitted and so I'm getting closer to running her up.

I'm gonna buy a new 12 volt battery, I hear astra ones fit...

I dont know about the exhaust and the B one, maniflow do a lovely 3 branch set up for MGA buts its 300 squid. I reckon on a second hand B one, bit of cutting and welding, a short silencer and a 90 bend out in front of the back wheel!

Well let me know when you need it I've always got manifolds kicking around, it's a shame actually I have a fully rebuilt 1800 and OD gearbox sat here that came in a project car I broke for parts!
