Making good progress with the 1800 and five speed conversion on my MGA. I have got a 3.9 diff to go in.

How do I pull the half shafts out?

I only have a crap manual and its not clear at all. Banjo axle on a MGA with steel wheels.

If the half shafts are like the midgets when you remove the drums you will see a screw between the wheel studs. Remove this and slide the halfshaft out. Simple!

Then ring of bolts on diff. Prop bolts. remove one and refit other. Job start to finish should take inside an hour including refilling diff.

Just completed it in under 2 hours including swapping the little spider gears from the MGA diff into the 3.9 as the 3.9 came with 25 spline half shafts and the MGA has 10, also included using a bran flakes packet to make a pair of new gaskets!

Indeed MGAguru is a useful source of info.
