Hi all,
Am thinking about a new car and as something a bit different an MG-ZT/(T) kinda appeals to me, and I was wondering...

Most likely looking a the base model 1.8 petrol (Mg ZT120??) due to cost of petrol/tax etc.. any comments on this model?

Running costs?

What is the servicing / spare parts availability? Are there any issues that people have?

How reliable etc are these cars.. probably looking at something with 60k+ miles on the clock.. I seem to remember they got good reviews for reliability etc.. does this hold true?

The 1.8 is not going to be quick; as the ZT weighs close to 1.5 tonnes. But if you are only buying it for the looks, then this may not matter to you.

Try here for answers on servicing etc:

If you're buying on running costs consider the CDTi/135, I like mine a lot more than I thought I was going to. Diesel power delivery seems to suit the ZT/75 very nicely, you can't argue with 40+ MPG in day to day running (which for us at the moment means my wife doing a shortish run to work and back, doing the shopping, ferrying the boys around to guitar lessons etc, etc, etc) from a car that size, and it really does seem like an awful lot of car to ask a naturally aspirated 1.8 K-series engine to lug around...

and you know want and can afford are sadly two very different things!

Though actually it was seeing a v8 one that made me think "what about something like that"

I've got a silly car (tiger kit) anyway so performance isnt a necessity.

ta chaps.
