Firstly this isn't a subtle (well not so subtle really) means of selling my car it is a genuine thread, and also don't feel too sorry for me I am a dealer after all.

I bought a really nice BGT about 9 months ago to use as a daily driver, totally solid original car, paintwork not mint but presentable, great runner, mechanically perfect, 78bgt so rubber bumper for it's sins, leather interior with the original deckchair in good condition if wanted, 12 months mot, new tyres etc. etc. etc. It's even in one of the best colours for the car (BRG/Brooklands).

I replaced it with an Audi and have been trying to sell the BGT for months, and not had a nibble, had a few total timewasters, and had a few bids on the 3 occasions it has been on ebay, highest it hit was £1500, which seems far too cheap for a good solid car that hasn't been messed with and can just be jumped in and driven, it truly is a great daily driver and swallows miles, well eventually I got sick of the two cars sat around so stuck Audi up for sale and it sold within 12hours, so there isn't any rush to sell it now as my MGC won't be ready for at least a month, and I need something to go to silverstone in, but seriously what is wrong with this car, I'm not being greedy on price but I do think somewhere between 2-3k is fair for it, and it won't exactly lose money if looked after. There's some pics of it in classifieds somewhere if you can be bothered to look, I'm just totally lost as to the problem, never had a car stick like this one. Not the worse thing to be honest as I really like the car, that's probably what makes it so hard to believe.

I think the market for the 'B' and other similar weekend 'toys' is pretty dead at the moment.

Took my 'B' Roadster into the garage for service last week and they have a couple of 'B's in stock that I think they have had for a while.

They figure no one wants to spend out on anything like these type of cars as people are worried about the economy/mortgages etc.

Your probably right steve, trouble is it's making me itch to spend a bit of cash debumpering sebring skirting it and playing with it, pseudo rally car look, but would be a shame to do it to this one.

I had a look at your ad. No doubt it's a solid, honest, original car. But it's hardly the most desirable spec; big bumpers, plastic dash and no sunroof.

Must be someone with £2k as a good basis for a sebring or chrome conversion.
At least it's not brown!

It's unny isn't it because it's the spec that makes me smile when I see it as a daily driver as they are the most reliable and best built B's out of the lot!

I did have a webasto that I was considering fitting, but they are bloody horrible things, both to fit and live with, might consider sticking a glass roof in, but again shame to modify it, likewise have loads of tin dashes and could shove one in in an afternoon but then it isn't original!

Thanks for the comment though it's kind of what I thought, wrong model. Although not so long ago I was knocking out rubber bumper cars as fast as I could finish them, funny how things go around!

I had a Mk1 Mexico with a full-length Webasto and I thought it was great. Mind you, that was thirty years ago and I'll admit it doesn't compare well to the tilt-slide electric job on my current Volvo.

Glass roof is a definite no-no - a very 'eighties' thing, they were only ever used in 'tilt' mode for ventilation. I had an XR2 with a factory glass roof - it was far too much hassle to remove the panel and stow it, and there was no deflector to stop air pressure build up in the cabin.

If I was ever to consider buying a BGT, and I might, it would have to have a Webasto.
