just purchased a 1967 mgb gt mk1, the fuel pump looks like its new and appears to be rubber mounted, the problem is it sounds like a machine gun inside and outside of the car, its very lound, i know that they make a clicking sound but this one seems to lound, any ideas, thinking of fitted a electronic modern pump.

Mine's the same! I replaced it a few years ago with a more reliable solid state job. You do get used to it after a while but if it's too noisy try reseating it on a different rubber mounting.driving

leave well alone, a working su fuel pump should never be fiddled with, they are noisy, you grow to like the sound as it is a brilliant way of telling if you have run out of fuel, if the pump is working, if you have a fuel leak, and dozens of other diagnostics tests by ear.

You do get used to it.

They are generally noisy, but I have had problems in the past with air leaking into the fuel line before the pump, this makes it even noisier!

Well it doesn't make it noiser, but it does make it run faster hence more noise.
