Finally agreed terms and paid a deposit on a ZT-T 260. Will collect in a week or two after a few bits have been done to it and a set of XPower exhaust fitted so that I can hear the V8 properly.

I have never owned a British car (other than a company supplied Metro and Maestro many years ago) and have to say I am really rather excited. I particularly like the quirky nature of the car and hope it will live up to expectations.

Congrats thumbup you will not be disappointed. Have had mine for nearly six months now and nearly 10,000 miles covered, the thought of anything else now, just seems so tame.
Look at the two-sixties website, there is a meet at Brooklands next Sunday 6th. If you are within stricking distance come along.
Any Pictures?

I don't think I will have it by next weekend sadly. No photos yet either although it is probably still on SMCs website.

That is one of the things I have asked to be done along with the fuel filter clip and a set of Xpower exhausts. Oh and a full service and 3 year warranty. Hope I haven't missed anything! biggrin

Jules, make sure they fit a two-sixties hose, NOT an OEM one. I had to fit a replacement when mine went, before the two-sixties ones were produced - and it lasted 8,000 miles before also blowing in exactly the same place. grumpy So far, nobody has managed to blow a two-sixties one as far as I know.

Thanks Chris. I have asked them to fit a Two Sixties one which they seemed to know about. A guy there, I think called Mark, has two 260s so they seemed fine with my request.

Unless he's changed one of them, he has a 260 and one of only 10 Rover 75 V8 Tourers ever made. smile

Also make sure you find a nice large chrome ashtray from an old XJS and fit it somehwere appropriate (maybe get rid of the airbag or satnav). Now that you will take up pipe smoking you'll need a handy place to bang it out and I believe the 260's only have rear ashtrays?

Has anyone got any recommendations regarding the insurance. Have so far tried Adrian Flux and A Plan who currently insure the Camaro and Volvo. I have been quoted about £800 fully comp, full and protected NCB, old git of 42 and even older wife for SD and P and business use. This seems very high compared to the £450 I am currently paying for a LHD American import.

Also I need to keep the Camaro insured until I sell it, which will cost even more. I have pointed out that I cannot drive them both at once but to no avail.....

That's absurd!

I've got mine insured with Admiral for around £460 iirc, although that is with a 10% multi-car discount. I'm 37, so I doubt the age will make much difference, also covered for business use, no accidents, claims or convictions, but in a significantly higher risk area.

Best bet is to run it through confused.com and see what the best you can get on there is.

Peter Best Insurancethumbup I have my 400 on a classic policy, kept on the street with unlimited miles (class 1 business) for 460 (Yes, four hundred and sixty of your English pounds.) If you struggle to find their details I can dig out the paperwork later.

Your initial quote from Peter Best will probably be silly and expensive. Express your surprise as you know that other members of the owners' club have recommended them as being far cheaper, and you should find they suddenly drop the 25% powerful car surcharge they apparently apply. rolleyes

Car collected last night and whilst I have only driven it home and then in to work this morning I am really pleased with it.

I have insured it through Peter Best so thanks for the recommendation Chris. Paying just over £400 to include business use so I am very pleased with that.

SMC seemed very good, car was serviced and valeted when I collected it. They had even replaced the front discs as they said the old ones were rather worn. XPower exhaust fitted with the old set left in the boot as I requested.

Just waiting for the weekend now so I can have a proper go in it.

Thats a good insurance deal !! I was getting quotes of 5-6 hundred quid on supercharged Jags , M3's, Monaros, etc but when I got a quote for an MG ZT V8 they quoted me a grand confused !!

Not sure what happened there, almost gave up thinking about it but maybe I should stick at it.
