Blown MGB battery

I called the recovery service out cus my 71 BGT wouldn't start.

The guy managed to 'blow' the battery (Not sure what he did but there was an almighty bang)

They've agreed to pay for a new battery, my question is, do the batterys need to be replaced as a pair? (as theres two of them in my B)
He said it was only one that was gone.

Anyone know for sure.

So the muppet tried to put 12v thu a 6v battery with the jump leads on the wrong terminals then! what a prat.
Your other battery shoud be ok,but still to get both replaced. I just had price to replace mine on the MGA.
