s2000 powered B?
Discussion
Hi Guys,
Had my BGT for just over a year now, with about 8k put on the clock in that time.
It's been well maintained, but has got to the point where I'm thinking of changing a few things...which got me thinking about what could fit in the engine bay..
Now thinking of buying a written off Honda S2000, take the engine, gearbox and slot them into the B, along with Hoyle IFS and IRS, S2000 hubs and brakes, and a custom propshaft. 220bhp, far better brakes, suspension and gearshift, whilst looking fairly standard. Perfect I think for the sort of driving I want it for (trackdays and fast road runs with more modern sportscars).
Of course, I'm working on a limited budget, so suppose my question is: how should I go about this? Should I strip the car, and get the parts/work done as and when I can afford it, or try and work out the full cost and save the cash to get it done in one (large) go?
Anyone got a rough idea of costs (excluding parts)
Pros/cons of each method?
Thoughts about the plans?
Thanks in advance..

I do love the S2k engine, but for some reason i don't see the high-revving nature fitting with the MGB...
If i were you i'd be hunting for the E46 M3 engine. S54?
Amazing engine, gutsy, makes a superb noise, and is reliable too.
I think one of those would be bloody wonderful in a well restored B...

The best Iv seen was the cosworth roadster.Looked totally standard, but had the full drivetrain and suspension froma sierra cosworth.Amazing conversion, the engine bay looks amazing. Iv got a few pictures if anyone would like to have a look? As for an s2000 engine, Id go for it! Id love to do an engine upgrade in my roadster, I wanted a written off evo, imagine a 450bhp AWD roadster!! But Iv been looking at my audi's engine recently(1.6 A4) I think it'd go in well, or possibly even getting a 1.8 turbo engine in there, thatd be a good one!Theres thousands of possibilities to wangle in a B, so throw what ever you want in there!Just make sure you get lots of pictures as you do so!
