Well following on from this thread: http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0... my son has now purchased an MG ZR and here are some pics:

It cost £3,640 which compared to others we saw on Saturday seemed reasonable. It's also MOT'd till next January and will have an oil change prior to our pick-up next Saturday. The paintwork looked immaculate.

Any thoughts? Was that a fair price? What do y'all think?

Initially i would say that is at the top end of the price scale for a 51 plate with 59K miles. However, the underbonnet looks immaculate. I always think that the state of the engine bay speaks volumes on how a car has been looked after, and that is very very clean.
I always think you get a feel for a car, and if it feel right, then it is a fair price. Its all very well getting a so called bargain, but generally as with most things in life, you only get what you pay for.
It does look very nice. Enjoy thumbup

That looks immaculate!

Is it trophy blue? If so then the photos don't do it justice.

It's the right colour too wink

Project drive was a cost saving "initiative" which involved removing all the bits not strictly needed such as sound insulation to try and save MGR some money.

BTW. When the airbag light comes on, it will be the connector under the seat (All MG's do it). Disconnect the battery for 1/2 an hour (to let the airbag system power down), unplug & clean, plug in again, reconnect battery and it will be fine!
Also, tell your son to keep an eye on the temp guage and dont drive it if it gets hotter than usual -that is when head gasket issues usually happen -because of overheating.

Cheers Pete - I've told him to keep an eye on this thread to see what people are saying.

All advice gratefully received.

Make sure he lets it get up to temperature before he thrashes it, or he'll damage the engine, once it's warmed up and with regular oil changes it should last quite a while. thumbup

Nice, first and only two things I'd do to it would be get it lowered (Avo -35mm springs) and a pipercross cone induction kit...big improvement!
