Have a MGTF 160. And just had MOT. It just passed on the brakes. (foot & hand)
Mechanic said that all the MGF’s just pass on the mot’s like this as the brakes are rubbish. Disks and pads are ok. Just a little pitted on the backs. But passed.
Is this a common problem? And is there anything I can do to improve the braking.
It has the 160hp four pot callipers on so I thought these would be good.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I recently tested two Trophy 160s and was surprised to find that they didn't have ABS. yikes
Not sure that makes then rubbish though. I'd say they were OK for road use but I'd consider different pads for a track day.

EBC GreenStuff.

Made an ENORMOUS difference to my TF160's brakes. Better stopping and better pedal feel too. And replacement is easy peasy.

Thanks a lot.
I'll give that a try. Should I get better discs to go with the pads?

I just replaced the pads. Can't praise them enough, although I have also read good reports of Mintex 1144's, which I have not used.

The OEM pads are, in a nutshell, total carp!

Thanks!
I agree, the standard pads seem a bit lifeless

The original Trophys didn't have ABS, all part of the harder, sharper design. I think there was some sort of homologation thing as well because they were developed in quick time and the APs were new to the car.
