Hello there.
You'll have to bare with me, new to the game.
Can anyone advise me on a way of upping the BHP on my ZT 180. Looking for around 210, 220BHP?

What sort of budget are you looking at?

Can you afford to just trade the 180 in for a 260 (around £11k) and get 260bhp with RWD to boot?

Would love to but only had the 180 a couple of months. I am new to the MG scene & did not know the 260 excisted. If i had known the ZT was this good i would have dived in a lot sooner.

Do you need an auto? I think the 260 is only available with a manual gearbox.

Correct-ish. If you want an auto, then you need to find a Rover 75 V8 or one of the small number of auto 260s in Australia!

Oh, I didn't realise they made any auto MGs.

There's only something like 3 or 4, and I don't think any of them are in this country.

Dave V6 on X Power Forums may be able to help, he's got a tuned up V6 (albeit in a ZS rather than ZT).

What you really need though is a V8.... with a supercharger..... cloud9

Back in the real world, the V6 is a LOT lighter than the V8 and, being FWD, handles differently - a full geometry job on the FWD ZT will give a touring-car type sports setup without too much hassle, and surely it can't be hard to get a nice sound out of the V6??? Alfa V6 engines sound glorious, you just need some decent exhausts. It was the same with the V8s... but with a smaller market we had to get some bespoke jobbies designed for the club.

I'm sure a major manufacturer makes great sounding zorsts for the V6 engine.

Dave V6 will know, but if you're interested in making a bit of a project car then you could always sling a rotrex supercharger in there and play with the ECU. If they can fit a Mustang V8 in the ZT engine bay then there'll be enough room for some extra gubbins in there with the V6 wink
