You could try Andy Jennings: http://www.mgcars.org.uk/andyjennings/
I bought a 3sync OD box from him and he guaranteed he'd take it back if it wasn't up to the job. (It was, but the uprated engine is tearing it to bits now...)

Wildoliver,

Could you give me an idea on price (related to condition, I know)?
I'm looking around for a replacement for mine as well, but am not in a hurry.
Not being in the UK makes things slightly more complicated I'm afraid...

I'd be interested to know what we think one might be worth, I aksed Andy Jennings, he has one, I was a little surprised by the price.

I can only imagine what andy jennings wanted........300+?

Church of noise I don't have any, all my work is on later B's, do have a set of ww half shafts for a banjo axle though. But if mechspec have one (also debatable) then I'd happily grab one and hold on to it for a fellow pistonheader.

I wouldn't worry about being in Belgium, it's quite easy to post abroad nowadays.

It's also quite hard to justify swapping to a tube axle, even taking originality out of the equation, although far far stronger and cheaper they are also much more expensive.

If you hunt on the net for long enough you should find a webpage I found a long time ago which showed all the bmc cars and the diffs fitted, you may be very lucky and find another model uses a 3.9 diff of the larger size (I.E. not midget) Certainly would think the austin westminsters/farinas would be a good start, possibly sherpa's too, however don't assume the engine matters, riley 1.5's use a b series but use the smaller a series back axle.

I went to see Andy Jennings today (saw his wife, he was poorly in bed), turned out he lives about 5 miles from me, he wanted £175 for a 'beleived good as removed one' and 75 for one that was an unknown quantity and may need a bit of work, I opted for the later and will have a good run through it before fitting.

Thanks for the nod!

you did as I would too. You can feel if there is excessive play in them, hardly a complex item.

Wildoliver,

Thanks for the willingness to help, I will keep it in mind if I decide to go for another diff.

As an aside, I used to have the coordinates for a website that sells new MGB diffs (tube and banjo) for very very decent prices, but it's at my other computer. Will look for it and inform you guys as soon as I can!

No problem, I might be in business but provided favours don't cost me money or excessive time I don't mind.
