Heaters..okay, the B heater I own is rubbish, and its not ever going back under my bonnet (when I finally get round to putting the car together)

I've thought about piping in cool air from the grille to the cabin for a summer time jaunt. But just thinking ahead, to the odd occasion that I may want to clear and de-mist the window as I drive, whats out there? I have one of those Halfords de-mist pads, but I know that blowers work better. I've heard of Lotus 7, kit car type heaters- anyone have one of those? any problems plumping it in or is it entirely electrical?

Cheers.

The easiest way to make it work is to fit an uprated matrix and fan within the original heater box - available (I think) from the likes of MGOIC, Moss, B&G etc - and make sure that the tap on the cylinder head closes properly - that way you have cool air and hot air when you want it.

The original heater isn't that bad, you know. They are normally pretty furred up after all these years and the foam between the sides of the heater and the box has gone too. If you give the matrix a good clean out with concentrated acetic acid and block the sides with new foam, you will get results.

Both good ideas above but if you can afford it get the uprated matrix and fan, I tried a thoro' clean out on my existing matrix and it was an improvement by not really enough for regular winter use

Whether you decide on uprated or existing replacing tired or broken seals and foams will make a big difference (MGOC members prices £5 life-membership)
