I have a Janspeed MGF silencer/exhaust that I'm interested in getting rid of - mainly because I've downsized my garage and don't have anywhere to put it. Like all hoarders, I can't bring myself to just dump it !

It's about 10 years old, and is sound, as far as I know - not that it would be easy to tell - it is loud ! Too loud for my taste, to be honest, which is why I don't normally use it, although it does have the most toe-curling blop-blop-blop on over-run. It's a 'straight-through' type that exhausts through one side, the other side is dummy: apparently it is road-legal - the car passed at least one MoT with it attached, but I understand that it is not legal for dealers to sell now. The outlets are round, a good 3 inches diameter, with 'MG' etched on each side. It bolts straight on and supposedly adds a couple of bhp, though I have no evidence to prove it.

If anyone wants to offer me the price of a bottle of wine for it (that's nice and flexible - could end up as an auction by vintage !) you could come and collect it from me in Southampton or we could find some way of delivering it.

Hi,

The missus has an '99 MGF, which was going to get a decent sounding exhaust, right up until the budget for that got blown twice over in on hit a couple of weeks ago, by having to rectify an unplanned, but inevitable, head gasket failure. Hence, I'd be interested in your offer, and it would get fitted to her car rather than ending up on ebay! Is it a stainless or mild steel one? Please let me know (by PM or post) what sort of vintage you are after for it - I'd be prepared to stretch beyond Tesco's Chilean Red at £2.99, but not up to real vintage claret! I'm around Huntingdon and London, but might be able to come down and collect, or I have a couple of mates that live down that neck of the woods who might collect, or I'd be prepared to pay for P&P if it was a reasonable amount to get it through the Royal Mail (provided they're not on strike.....)

Hi Peter,

Could you resend it please - my profile had an email address that I can only access at home at weekends - I have now changed it to the one I can access at work as I am away from home during the week! Ta,
