Hi, Can anybody suggest why on tickover my S-reg. vvc has just started to tick over at a constant 1500 rpm. It has literaly just started to do this and after a long drive i noticed that the oil temp had risen as well from its usual 60c to near on 120c! The water temp. seemed normal. Any ideas anyone? Cheers, Mark.

Mine is doing the similar thing at the moment, though my idle point is changing constantly. Think I have tracked mine down to a faulty throttle position sensor though.

Something to try is turning the ignition to position II. Press the accelerator right to the floor and fully release it five times. Then turn the ignition off, and try starting the car.
The above resets the sensor and should return the idle back to normal.

To MG STEVE. Thanks very much for that. I have been away for the weekend but will try that tomorrow and will let you know. Thanks, Mark.

To MG Steve.
A. Great news. Your 'formula' has worked and cured the problem. Many Thanks.

B. Would anyone happen to know where i can lay my hands on a cheap second hand owners handbook. My car didn't have one when i bought it recently.
I desparately need one!!
Thanks. Mark
