Just got my 'F' back from it's first service while in my custody (11,500 miles since early February - yikes!) and while it's been declared generally sound in wind and limb the garage expressed some concerns about the radiator and underfloor water pipes which while not actually leaking are apparently looking a bit moth-eaten...

How bad/expensive is this going to be? looks like a new rad is about £60-£70 off eBay but the coolant pipes seem strangely elusive and I'd appreciate a ballpark figure of what I can expect to pay for fitting too (or how difficult to DIY) too.

Hi,
if you are keeping the car I would fit Stainless Steel Coolant Pipes. Cost about £70 and are a very easy DIY but take your time when you bleed the system.

I think I'm going to be keeping the car for at least a couple of years and wouldn't be completely surprised if it was still in the family somewhere for rather longer as both my wife and eldest son have become very fond of it.

Who does the stainless pipes now? I'm sure Mike Satur used to, but they aren't listed on his new website - anywhere else I should be looking?

I found the standard pipes tucked away inconspicuously in the MGOC spares/accessories listings by the way...

The stainless pipes are still available from Mike, or you can also now get them from Brown & Gammons and Rimmer Bros.
I would also consider upgrading to a later TF radiator. They are alloy and so dont rot like the F ones, and are a straight swap.
