wavey

That was me trying to find a way to Wings and Wheels that didn't involve a 4 mile queue of stationary traffic! grumpy

I'd certainly recommend one against pretty much anything that started life under £50k.

Hi - I was up your ass in a silver merc, you turned into the garden centre.
I was trying to get home a couple of miles from the dunsfold areodrome. Had to go VERY country roads to eventually get there without q'ing. I then walked up the hill by my house and watched the red arrows buzz us.
I do like your car! I now really want one , the hard bit is finding one, especially pre face lift.
What are they worth?

Ah yes. I'd just realised I was going the wrong way, so the garden centre was a U-turn!

As for cost, be wary of anything much below £9k, and don't bother paying over about £14k. I got mine in May last year for £12,700 including 12 month warranty, AA cover etc.

If you want a pre-facelift tourer, then you're going to struggle! There were only 27 made including a couple of development mules, and one of those is in the States, cunningly registered as a Mustang based kit car due to the engine. Mine was the first one I'd seen after about 9 months of looking, and I've seen one more for sale since then in the last 15 months.

If you're after a saloon, then there are 100 or so to choose from, and these pop up fairly frequently on Autotrader (there's one on there at the moment) so you'll have more luck with that.

Give me a shout if you want a closer look. I'm in Epsom, so we're not too far apart.

Me too! When I set out to find a Mk1 Tourer, I had no idea just how rare they are. Thank God I loved the Green on sight, as I'd have been kicking myself if I'd let it go! laugh

There are a few on autotrader but all face lifts. Not sure they are high spec or not , not sure what Chromatic paint is AND the are around £14K. Does an 06 car mean higher tax?

The Chromactive and similar paint jobs are the specials. They look gorgeous, shimmering and changing from different angles, but if you do go for one of those, especially the "flip" colours, then go in with your eyes open, and reject anything with any damage to the paintwork, as you can't respray a single panel, since the effect is achieved by layering the paint on in a specific way along the length of the car.

As for the '06' registered cars, yes, you would pay more tax, as it's the date of registration that counts, not the date of manufacture.

There are 2 basic trim levels, standard and SE. SE has rear electric windows, electric heated leather seats, auto-dimming rear view mirror, satnav, Xenons etc....

One thing you could consider, if you prefer the look of the Mk1, is to fit a Mk1 front end to a Mk2 car. I don't think there is a huge amount of work involved in doing this, but you might want to check first! Internally, there are 2 main differences. The Mk1 has a shiny metallic dash, whereas the Mk2 has a matt, textured surface. You'd need to look at each to decide which you prefer. The other main difference is that the dials are white backlit in the Mk1 and blue in the Mk2. This is the one area of the Mk2 which I prefer.

You can find a lot more people to give guidance over on http://forums.xpowerforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=... (where you'll find me as Womble) plus if you do get one, join the owners' club at www.two-sixties.com. There are far more detailed forums on the latter site, but we've kept them restricted to members only. We have over 190 members, which is pretty good going considering there were fewer than 900 cars made!

You seem to love 1970s puppets. Are you called Basil Brush anywhere?
Thanks for the info. I need to get behind the wheel and get myself an SE. Looks like I might have to settle for a Mk2 but they dont look anywhere as nice. I love the front of the Mk1. Very very Bentley GT looking.

I'm Womble everywhere except on here! Unfortunately, Womble was already taken on here, as was a simple "Kermit". Kermit is, of course, the car! biggrin

Do you know of any known ZTT 260s out there that might be up for sale soon?

Not off the top of my head, but there is a thread on the Xpowerforums V8 page about cars for sale, and I think you can also post the question on the two-sixties forum.

Take a look at the thread lower down the page for some tips on what to look for. The V8 is pretty bulletproof, but it is worth checking to see if they've fitted the aftermarket heater hose. An owners' club member almost certainly will have, whereas a non-member probably won't know what you're talking about!

Also, check that the little orange clip has been fitted to the fuel filter to prevent it becoming unscrewed. It's only a 30 minute job and a £5 component if it hasn't, but you don't want to find out by getting stranded on a rainy motorway at 4am!
