ZR 105 - Buying tips?
Discussion
Hello chaps (and chapesses),
Interloper from the S series TVR forum here for your advice. SWMBO is after a new car and quite fancies a ZR now we are really only looking at 105's cos she isn't that bothered about it bein quick (mores the pity). We are also looking at a late 03/early 04 because we both prefer the earlier front end with the twin lamps and mesh grills, I will stand to be corrected but I think these changed mid 04?
Now I know my way around a car and am quite capable of spotting any general issues usually asociated with buying a used motor but was hoping some of you guys could advise on any particular things I should be looking for on this model.
All advice greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance,
Carl.

I would examine the following:
Any signs of hgf (mayo on oil cap or oily film in coolant).
Make sure the bonnet catch has not dropped and the bonnet closes easily & securely.
Examine the outer seat bolster on the drivers side for excessive wear.
Tracking and condition of alloys.
Though not quick they handle and corner very nicely.

The 105's aint quick, granted, but its not that slow, quite nippy once you get the revs up above 4k
Go for a 53 model if you can, it had somethnig done to the head gasket to hopefully make it a bit more durable, I also prefer the MK1 ZR's, a lot nicer, hence why I bought one And yes the MK2 came along mid 04
The problem with ZR's is that everything came as an optnioal extra, try to get the 17" straights, sideskirts, electric windows and half leather datona seats if you can, aswell as whatever else, but the sideskirts and alloys make it look 10 times nicer!
Handling on them is very impressive, point and go!
