Hi, just wondering whether anyone knows whether child seats will fit in the rear of a BGT (assuming that 'proper' seatbelts can be fitted).
I don't want to go and look at some cars without having a good idea of what's possible!
Thanks

I don'y know. I don't think the size 0 or size 1 seats would fit as the size 0 has a handle that would dig into the front seats and the size 1 seat is likely to be too tall.
In any case, you would need to get seatbelts fitted.

As a child Mum did the school run in her MGB GT but we didn't wear seatbelts in those days and there were no car seats

Indeed! However in this lovely nanny state we have (and as my 16 month old son would probably crawl under the pedals!) we need to strap a seat in the back somehow.

I've seen seatbelts in the rear of GTs before so wasn't too worried about them, it's really whether the space was sufficient. I guess we'll have to offer the seat up when looking at some cars, unless anyone in the Chepstow/Newport area would mind sparing me 5 minutes?

Personally I would advise finding a way to permanantly bolt it in, maybe take the base out and make a subframe up like on a bucket, you may have to buy a cheap baby seat to keep your best one for the eurobox if you run 2 cars.

I have fitted a rear seat in my MGB GT. Went to a seat bet specalist and got them to bolt a new seat belt into the rear (using some of the bolt threads already there like in Spare wheek well) and my kids love it !!

Any question send me a mail

Thanks, what age are your kids and was it difficult to fit a child seat in there?
