It has failed its MOT and needs some welding under the sills.

I also noticed a few rust blisters appearing around the bottom of the doors and headlights. I don't want a concours car, just something that runs and is pretty reliable. My wife will also drive it, something she refuses to do in the Ultima!

I have always liked the look of the B's and was wondering if that sounds resonable money?

I built my Ultima myself and am pretty handy with a welder etc, so not daunted by problems.

I don't know anything about MG's though, so would appreciate your expertise

Cheers

Seems a bit on the expensive side to me. Rusty bits always seem to return unless the car can be garaged. You might have to replace doors and wings if badly attacked by the dreaded tin-worm!teacherIf possible, try to get hold of a copy of Enjoying MG from the MG Owners Club. This will give you an indication of car prices in the classified section and is a good guide for spare part prices.driving

Really depends on a few things, is it free tax firstly?

Regards the rust how bad is it? you say it needs welding under the sills, that usually translates in to inner, outer sills, castle sections and quite often edge of floor, in which case it isn't worth that unless the car has a lot of other nice bits, eg new engine, new hood, new interior, new wings etc.

check front wings, and stick your hand up along the top of the wing towards the bulkhead to find the trumpets (pointy box section pointing forwards) these usually rot out too.

Check back wings, they are a horrible job to do.

If it does just want a bit of a weld up and use, then it could be an ok buy but sounds a bit pricey.

Wouldn't buy it. If it's rusty there, you can almost guarantee that the expensive stuff will be an issue --> sills, floorpans, inner front wings.

Spend a little bit more and find one that's been restored and waxoyled. It'll be less pain and grief in the long run.

Not in the PH classifieds, though is it?
What sort of money are we talking about. Can you mail me some details?

How about a part exchange for an Ultima? www.pistonheads.tv/clip561

On a serious note if the 63 is the right price it could be a good investment.

Why sell? Course you can drive both. I have an 1973 MG roaster and a TVR Griffith. I'm lucky if either is on the road smile Griff is always needing some work and MG is too uncomfortable for any long distances.tank
