Done it again, and got another MGB-GT a pretty car in flame with CB. Wires, and SSE.
It had a nice restoration 13 years ago, but now its showing its age with sill work required, and blemishes.

Today its having its brakes looked at, but need to investigate how rotten the sills are. Its certainly perforated the outer skin, but hot sure about the castle sections yet.



Things needed if any one has them they want to sell;

I would like to swap the 14" wires with 15". I once slotted some AC 289 rims onto a C, and it looked lovely. Also I have nuts, but would prefer 2 eared spinners.

It has some refurbed SU carbs and the MGB K&N Filters, but if there's a sidedraught weber available I would like to convert it. LCB manifold too.

The exhaust note is a little harsh being SSE, so if anyone wants to swap for a nicely made mild steel one then bring some spanners.

Squiffy handling can be looked at later, certainly not as sharp as the mililited 77 roadster I had last year, but far nicer looking.

DONT DO IT!!!!!!!

Seriously you will have to buy the weber, manifold, filter, cable converters then fit it, then rolling road it, all for the benefit of the weber noise (personally I think it sounds awful on any siamesed port non crossflow engine) and poorer fuel consumption, I really do think that HIF4 SU's on the road at least provide a much more driveable and quicker engine, and I have tried both (as well as the HS carbs, the HIF allows noticably more power) and they sound lovely through the MGB K+N.

The LCB is personal taste, it does change the engine note, and IMO does not offer higher performance, they also crack with age and a lot of them don't fit the head very well due to misaligned flanges, the standard manifold is pretty good for performance.

I do know what you mean about the stainless exhaust they have a rattly note, I can live with it as I dislike changing mild steel exhausts every three years, but they do sound different.
