Hi guys, Ive had a '72 GT for about 3 weeks now, the garage (an mg specialist) replaced the rear springs on the car as part of the deal but it is most definately sagging on the drivers side, by quite a lot. Ive had a quick look underneath, the springs are definately new, and the offeding side doesn't appear to have 'flattened out' so to speak. All very strange. The car didnt sag when i viewed it as both sides needed doing.

I had a good look at teh car on a ramp when buying and all seemed present and correct, in fact in excellent order, the car having undergone a full bare metal resto 5 years ago (whith acompanying evidence!)

I'm going ot go over to the garage and get them to take a look but wwondered if there was anyone who could offer a knowledgable opinion? I'm extremely familar with midgets (having owned one for the last 12 years) but not so with B's. I'd ideally like to lower the car 1" all round etc but am loath to do anything until this is sorted.

Thanks all....

To be honest a lot of the new springs you can buy just aren't up to spec, I won't replace original springs unless there is an actual problem, usually a broken main leaf, it is rare for an original to sag, sounds like the spring is just a dud and wants changing again, you might be luckier with the new one.

Where was it from?

To be honest I dont know, the garage fitted them, but i would bet it was Moss supplied. Ive had a look under the car since posting and its definately the spring on that side that has sagged, its sitting flat as opposed to a nice curve to it as per the other side. (its quite obviousley a new spring too)

Any recommendations for lowering the back end? Lowered rear springs or lowering blocks? I'm guessing that lowered springs would be a better solution. I've got blocks on the midget at the rear and its fine but its also a different car of course....

Thanks for the reply btw!

If you can find lowered springs then that is a neater engineering solution, but blocks are ok, and easy to reverse the operation too. You will need longer U bolts though.

As it is you need a new spring at least though so may as well put the money towards some good quality lowered springs. MAKE SURE THEY ARE FOR A GT!!!

Parabolics are a godsend on mine. They allow the car to stick to the line through the corners even when it's rough. Soft, without compromise. And you can state how low you want to go, what sort of bushes you want etc.
