A mate of mine wants to buy a ZT 135 diesel facelift model. He is asking about how much he should be paying for one etc on a 2004 car? Seen a couple for around £7995 but was wondering also how much he could expect to knock the dealer down on it??

He knows about the engine etc, and that it's big enough. Is there anything else major he should be considering?

Cheers,

Dave

Tell him to look here http://forums.mg-rover.org/ and here www.the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/ for more information

Clutches are weak on the ZT so worth checking to see if it has been replaced. Drain holes can block causing wet foot wells too.

Whats the mileage, hard to say if the price is good or not really. These are cars really well built so I guess he should just check all the usual suspects to make sure all is in order. Worth telling him to check the tyres, decent 18" tyres dont come cheap.

Tell him to make sure the MAF is working. Should be decent pull from low down the range and smooth acceleration. Lack of repsonse before 2000rpm means that the MAF could be knackered (he will know because all the power comes in around 2000rpm).

This isnt a disaster though because there is a good tuning bax and MAFAM which cues this and boosts BHP.

Far more importantly on this point, if the plenum drains do block, then the resulting flood will reach the main ECU before it reaches the footwells, and that's potentially expensive!
