over heating 190 zt
Discussion
Has anyone had over heating problems with their zt. The temp gauge was normal then went up to max at high revs when I backed off it droped back down , I checked the water and it was low. Refilled it and there were no visable leaks same thing happenend the next day I am praying it is not the head gasket I thought the v6s did not have the same problems as the 1,8 any ideas. Thanks Matt.
It sounds like it could be the head gasket to me I'm afraid.
The KV6 in your car is no where near as prone to HGF as either the K series or the old KV6 in the old Rover 800 series.
But: It still has a relatively low coolant capacity (and no low coolant capacity warning indicator!) so I check mine weekly.
It could be that you have had a leaking thermostat or water pump which can happen on a car that has stood around inactive for long enough for the seals to dry up - hence the leak.
The thing is, on modern cars there is so much that is not visible under the bonnet that you would be hard pressed to see a any leak!
Best of luck with it.
