Hi, I am looking to buy an MG B / Midget for the first time and would like some advice if possible on what to look for. I have seen cars but am not sure what to look for or what would be the best to get. Any help and advice would be much appreciated.

There is a huge range of options to choose from ie
standard Midget 1275 to K conversion 220bhp or standard B to 5.0L V8 with IRS.

First join MGOC - cars for sale in Mag.
2nd decide Midget or B and obtain Porter book on restoration - pages of info on what to look for when buying.
3rd Take your time visit MG dealers and inspect as many cars as possible - your dream car is out there.
4th the shell is key unless you are into restoration in which case new shells are available and in B case designed to drop in a V8.
5th enjoy the drive
My daily driver is 4.6V8 B with Midget back up.

Get some one else to look at the car. If you look at 10, then 9 will be no good. I have seen a B for 13K that had rust and sh*t paint so should have been about 4K. Join the MGOC (£25) you will get a mag and an advice line. Call them and find a local expert to look at cars for you (I have owned MG's for 10 years and I will still do this).
A rear wing on and MGB will cost about £1500+ to fix so rust is the bigest problem.
